Hero by Lauren Rowe

Hero, an all-new sexy and emotional standalone romance by Lauren Rowe is Available NOW!

A standalone contemporary romance in the MORGAN BROTHERS SERIES from USA Today Bestselling Author Lauren Rowe. The story of firefighter Colby Morgan that proves heroes come in many forms . .
The first time I laid eyes on Lydia Decker, I couldn’t speak. Or breathe. Or string two coherent thoughts together.
And I don’t mean any of that figuratively.
I’m not talking about a guy being floored by the sight of a gorgeous woman—although, of course, Lydia is gorgeous beyond words.
No, when I first laid eyes on Lydia Decker—my physical therapist—I was lying flat on my back in the ICU, high as a kite on painkillers, breathing on a ventilator, my bones as broken and splintered as my spirit.
When I first laid eyes on Lydia Decker, she was a ray of light in the dark. Hope for the hopeless. A salve for my singed and battered soul.
She said she’d been assigned to fix me. That she was there to bring me back to life. She said helping me was her calling.
And then she touched me. Physically, emotionally, spiritually. She healed me.
And I fell in love.
But what I didn’t know . . . what I couldn’t possibly know . . . was that Lydia Decker needed fixing far more than I ever did.

Review

Rating: 4.5*

*Sigh*  I loved this book so much.  It tore me apart before putting me back together.  An emotional read but one full of hope.

Lydia's life is torn apart when her Police Officer husband is killed whilst on duty, leaving her to being up their children solo.

Fire fighter Colby lives for his work but when he nearly dies on the job, the career he loves and has given so much for could be over.  Lydia's job as a physiotherapist is to fix him.  The attraction between them is off the charts and Colby's frankness whilst on pain medication leaves Lydia with no doubt he wants her, but ethically she shouldn't cross that line.

You could really feel Lydia's struggles and fears: her fear of falling love again and betraying her husband's memory; her fear that she is doing for Colby what she couldn't do for husband - save him; her fear of being caught; her fear of living again.

I fell in love with Colby for his persistence, sense of humour, tact, tenacity, and massive heart so completely and utterly.
